9 Simple Ways to For Moms to Pamper Themselves
Wednesday, July 18, 2018
Being a mom is
very rewarding but also incredibly
exhausting. To be able to take care of a family,
you have to take care of yourself too. There are many little,
inexpensive things you can do to pamper yourself.
Give Yourself a Makeover
Are you tired of
seeing the same image in the mirror that you see every day? Why not give
yourself a makeover? Tired of your hairstyle? Get a new one. Talk to an
experienced hair stylist to get some ideas for your new look. Get
a pedicure. It only costs between $20 and $30. It is very relaxing as you
soak your feet in warm water and get a little foot massage. And with a fresh
coat of nail polish your toes will look great. Try some new makeup. You can
even go to a department or makeup store and have a makeup artist turn you into
a beauty.
Indulge in Something Sweet
When you are
trying to pamper yourself, one of the best ways is to do something you don't usually do. If you typically exercise and eat healthy, once in a while it is helpful
to give in to yourself and eat that Dunkin donut, Mrs. Field's cookie, Matcha
chocolate, or hostess cupcake.
Buy Some Flowers
Flowers add
beauty to any space where they are added.
They also smell good. You don't have to
wait for someone else to send you flowers. Go out and buy yourself a bouquet
just because you can.
Catch up with an old Friend
When our lives
are so busy we often don't see those who are important to us as often as we
would like. Reach out to your best friend to re-connect. If you don't have the
time to meet, have a nice chat on the phone and plan for a time when you can go
out for a cup of coffee or a cocktail. It’s amazing
how the warmth of a verbal
hug from an old friend can make you feel.
Sleep Late
Remember the days when you were able to lounge in bed rather than having to jump up as soon as you wake up
to take care of your children? Ah, those were the days. Once in a while you
need to make a conscious decision to go to bed early or stay in bed later in
the morning. Getting a little extra sleep will
do wonders for your energy levels and your mood. Pamper yourself. You are worth it.
Take a Break from Cooking
Do you cook dinner every night? Take an occasional day off and order takeout. After working all day and taking care of your family,
you have earned the right to enjoy an evening and relax.
Skip Going to the Supermarket
Did you know
that you can order food online? Many supermarkets will let you do your shopping
online and deliver your order to your door. They usually charge a small delivery fee. You can also send someone else
to the store once in a while to give yourself a break. If you have a teenager
who drives, give him a list and send him off to the store. Or you can always
ask your partner to go for you and if you have small children, send them with
him.
Dress up for no Reason
Many moms,
especially those with small children, wear jeans or sweatpants around the house,
no make-up, and usually not much jewelry. Why would they? They want to be comfortable and wearing something
fancy doesn't seem practical. But don't you feel better about yourself when you
get all dolled up? Why not wear something pretty, put on some makeup, open your
jewelry box and choose something nice
that matches your outfit? You will feel better because you look better, even if
only for that day.
Get a Babysitter
Everyone needs a break every once in a while, especially moms. Hire a babysitter and go shopping. Offer to take
care of your friend's children for a day and in return, drop your children off
at her house the next time. Use your time off to do whatever you want. Take a
bubble bath, read a good book, take a nap, catch a movie, or do absolutely nothing. It’s
your day off to do whatever you want to do or not do.
Are you worth
pampering? Of course you are! With a little planning, creative thinking, and
the help of friends or partners, you can give yourself the break you need and
deserve.
